Top 4 +1 Tech Conferences in Canada for Summer 2016

Last updated on June 13th, 2016 at 01:01 pm

The Great White North will be hot this summer with some of the best tech conferences in the world taking place all across the country. Conferences are a great way to jumpstart your creativity in panels with talks and ideas from experts in digital, finance and startup culture.

As C2 Montreal wraps up, we thought we’d share this summer’s great crop of events that caught our attention. These conferences have seriously impressive speaker lineups and subject matter that is sure to inspire.

Below is our list of the top four events you should check out between your days on the dock (and one for just before the holidays):

1. Toronto Financial Information and Technology Summit

June 7th

@The Bram & Bluma Apple Salon

Toronto

What are the most pressing business, operational, technical and regulatory challenges that are driving the global financial industry? Who can you learn from to keep your company prepared for the challenges it faces in the field of data and technology? Attending The Toronto Financial Information and Technology Summit will give data executives and IT/ technology professionals within finance an opportunity to acquire constructive advice and tips from leading industry speakers. Don’t miss the panel on advance analytics. B2B companies can benefit from an analytics strategy to help monitor success and make better business decisions. The Keynote Speaker at this year’s event is Ron Lee, the Chief Information and Operations Officer at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (Canada).

2. Big Data Toronto

June 14th and 15th

@Metro Toronto Convention Centre

Toronto

Big Data is to 2016 as the internet was to 2000. Just like the internet, Big Data is here to stay and make a meaningful impact on how businesses operate. Whether the concept of data is foreign to you, or you are a self-proclaimed ‘data geek’, you can benefit from the keynotes, labs and technologies at Big Data Toronto. B2B companies will benefit from the panel discussion on “recruiting and training your big data squad”.   If the idea of engaging with speakers from HBO, Under Armour, and Deloitte isn’t enough to spark your interest, maybe the FREE admission will.

3. Traction Conference

June 22nd and 23rd

@Sheraton Wall Centre

Vancouver

Are you an entrepreneur who could benefit from two days of workshops and engaging keynotes based on the topics of building a brand people love, picking the right distribution channels, building an A+ sales team and more? If you said no, then maybe you should sign up to speak and teach others your secrets to success. Traction Conference promises to help you gain insight on how to optimize your product to drive growth and revenue.

Past speakers have included Ryan Halmes, the CEO of Hootsuite and Selina Tobaccowala, the President and CTO of SurveyMonkey. The first day of the event is filled with workshops such as “Designing & Optimizing a Sales Machine for Hyper Growth”.  Everyone can benefit from learning from the C-suite executives at some of the fastest growing tech companies in the world.

4. Design & Content Conference

July 20th – 22nd

@The Goldcorp Centre for the Arts

Vancouver

Organizers of the Design & Content Conference have created a lineup of speakers to educate attendees on how designers and content strategists can shape the future of the web. Do not miss out on workshops and talks by leading professionals in the field. B2B companies can always benefit from a culture that matches with the external environment. The presentation of “Creating a Content & Design Driven Culture” will teach attendees important skills such as “how to plan for organizational change by working through items like future state maps and guiding principles to impact culture”. The excitement will not end after 5pm, on Thursday night there will be a party at Science World Vancouver. This conference sold out last year, so make sure to grab your tickets before it’s too late!

+ 1. Canadian Innovation Exchange

November 21st -23rd 2016

@MaRS Discovery District

Toronto

Even though this conference is not in the summer, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to include it in our roundup. The Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) is a day for tech innovators to learn from each other, pursue customer and investment relationships and encourage the development of innovative technology. On November 21st, CIX has a FinTECH conference, and November 23rd is Public Investor Day. B2B companies can learn from the people behind Canada’s best innovations. Past speakers have included Boris Wertz, the Founding Partner at Version One Ventures, and Harley Finkelstein, the CPO at Shopify.
