Schneider Electric named the World’s Most Sustainable Company 2026

For the third consecutive year, Schneider Electric has been named the world’s most sustainable company by TIME Magazine and Statista.

The 2026 recognition places Schneider Electric at the top of a global ranking drawn from 5,000 of the world’s largest and most influential companies. The ranking reflects the company’s continued focus on making sustainability part of its operating model, business strategy, governance, customer work, supplier relationships, and community impact.

For Schneider Electric, the recognition arrives alongside the launch of Impact 2030, the company’s new sustainability roadmap. The plan is designed to accelerate progress across electrification, efficiency, digitalization, industry transformation, skills development, and local community support.

“Energy intelligence is a key enabler of both efficiency and decarbonization,” said Emily Heitman, president of Schneider Electric Canada.

That phrase captures the centre of Schneider Electric’s position in the current energy transition. As companies, governments, utilities, data centres, industrial operators, and infrastructure owners face rising electricity demand, sustainability is becoming an operational issue. Energy has to be measured, managed, automated, optimized, and connected across systems.

Schneider Electric’s latest sustainability progress shows how that work is translating into measurable outcomes.

In the first quarter of 2026, Schneider Electric reduced its Scope 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions by 82.5 per cent compared with its 2017 baseline. That figure reflects progress inside the company’s own operations, where emissions reduction, resilience, and efficiency remain central to the company’s sustainability performance.

The company also reported that customers saved or electrified 47.5 million MWh of energy in Q1. That work helped improve energy efficiency and resilience across customer operations, including buildings, factories, infrastructure, grids, data centres, and other energy-intensive environments.

Schneider Electric said it helped customers save and avoid 20 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions in the first quarter alone. The result points to the scale of customer-side impact in sustainability strategy, where reductions achieved through products, software, automation, electrification, and advisory work can extend well beyond a company’s own footprint.

Supply chains are also part of the company’s Impact 2030 roadmap. In Q1, more than 1,100 suppliers participated in Schneider Electric’s Zero Carbon Pathway initiative, extending climate action deeper into the company’s value chain. Supplier participation is a critical part of decarbonization for large global companies, because sustainability performance increasingly depends on the wider ecosystem around a business.

Schneider Electric also reported progress on circularity and product design. Fourteen per cent of major offers in the design phase are already demonstrating circular and environmental excellence under the company’s future-designed framework.

The company’s community impact figures were also significant. More than 2.8 million people benefited from sustainable electricity through community-focused solutions supported by Schneider Electric during the first quarter of 2026. Those programs are aimed at expanding access to reliable, sustainable power in communities where energy access remains a foundation for education, safety, health, entrepreneurship, and economic participation.

Skills development is another part of the roadmap. Schneider Electric said 113,000 people received training in energy, electrification, and automation skills during the quarter, bringing the total number of people trained since 2009 to more than 1.2 million.

The TIME and Statista ranking adds to Schneider Electric’s broader record in sustainability recognition. The company is also the only business to have secured the number one position in Corporate Knights’ Global 100 ranking twice, in 2021 and 2025. Schneider Electric has also been named to the CDP Climate A List for 15 consecutive years.

The company’s strongest metrics are tied to measurable reductions, energy savings, customer outcomes, supplier engagement, and workforce training. That is where sustainability is increasingly moving: into the systems, data, infrastructure, and operating decisions that determine how organizations use energy every day.

As electrification and digitalization reshape industry, Schneider Electric’s third consecutive global sustainability ranking signals how central energy management has become to competitiveness, resilience, and decarbonization.
