Shrinkage is essentially any loss that happens due to unknown reasons. It can be waste that is not recorded, or it can be theft by staff or customers. So you need to make sure that you have measures in place to keep shrink as low as you can.

Keeping waste low is important for your profits, but it’s also a vital ecological thing, so make sure that you are aware of this and you are working hard at all times to keep it low. What products do your customers actually want, and are you providing it for them as necessary? It’s vital that you are doing this, because otherwise those customers are quite simply going to go elsewhere, and you might find that you can’t actually see the sales that you are hoping for. It’s simple but hugely important: are there products on the shelves that your customers are actually in need of or going to want to buy? When you are providing them with what they really want, it makes all the difference in the world, and it means that they are going to come back again and again.
